Diane Warren and Albert Hammond's Oscar-nominated power ballad is broadly charting again, appearing across 84 country and platform charts after a five-week absence. Written as the theme to the 1987 romantic comedy Mannequin, the Grace Slick and Mickey Thomas duet was the second US number one for the band's pop-pivot incarnation after We Built This City. The song has stayed culturally porous over the decades — turning up in a 2015 Filipino film and a late-2016 episode of Brooklyn Nine-Nine, per Culture Wikia. Its official video crossed 500 million YouTube views in October 2024, a first for the band, according to Wikipedia. The maximalist key-change chorus remains its own argument for endurance, sturdy enough to resurface without an obvious push.
