Paul McCartney, Wings — Jet
Trending since · peaked at 131 charts
Jet, Jet, JetI can almost remember their funny facesThat time you told them you were going to be marrying soonAnd Jet, I thought the only lonely place was on the moon
One of the loudest, strangest singles in the post-Beatles McCartney catalog is broadly charting today, tracked across 131 country and platform charts. Pulled from 1973's Band on the Run — the album that resurrected Wings after two critically panned starts and earned the 418th spot on Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Albums list, per Wikipedia — Jet was a top-ten hit McCartney himself reportedly never planned to release as a single. Its glam-rock stomp and nonsense-romantic lyric (named, by various accounts, after a pony) have kept it a live staple for five decades. McCartney revisited his rock-and-roll roots last week on BBC Radio's Tracks of My Years, keeping his catalog in rotation.
