The song comes from a 2012 collection of Icelandic cradle songs that Hafdís Huld built with Alisdair Wright — a set that pairs original compositions with traditional numbers like "Bíum Bíum Bambaló," all threaded through with gentle themes of nature, animals, and tenderness, per Plötudómar, which awarded the record eight stars. Hafdís Huld first surfaced internationally as the teenage voice of trip-hop outfit GusGus before turning to hushed, folk-leaning solo work.
