Candy Dulfer — Lily Was Here
Trending since · peaked at 119 charts
The saxophone instrumental that put a 19-year-old Dutch player on the international map is broadly charting today, tracked across 119 country and platform charts after a six-week absence. Originally recorded in 1989 as the title theme to the Dutch drama De Kassière — released internationally as Lily Was Here — the track pairs Dave Stewart's guitar with Candy Dulfer's soaring alto sax on a melody that became a European hit in 1990. Dulfer, who had already caught Prince's attention playing the solo in his "Partyman" video, parlayed the exposure into a deal with Arista and her debut album, Saxuality, per IMDb. Its return is the 2001 re-release version rather than the original single. A durable piece of instrumental crossover, back in wide rotation now.
