Her death has returned this Jim Steinman–penned power ballad to broad circulation, tracked across 32 country and platform charts today after a two-month absence. Written for the 1984 Footloose and used in the film's climactic sequence, the track drew a tribute from Kevin Bacon himself among the memorials, per the Daily Mail. Catherine Zeta-Jones, a relative, recalled Tyler singing at her wedding. Steinman's overwrought Wagnerian scale — the same wall-of-sound bombast he built for Meat Loaf — is what has kept the song synced and covered for four decades.
