Andy Hui — 一步一生

童年是誰伴我走挽我的手 望我踏上天梯不可退後 曾經期望著我前程和戀愛 甚麼都擁有
A Cantopop ballad from the early 2000s is broadly present across the global charts today, tracked on 76 country and platform charts after a month-long absence. Andy Hui, a fixture of Hong Kong's post–Four Heavenly Kings generation, built a long career on Cantonese and Mandarin ballads exactly like this one — measured, sentimental, structured around a slow-building vocal that treats a life's regrets as its through-line. The track appears on his album On My Story, and a live 2015 recording has kept it circulating alongside the studio original. Its lyric — a reflection on childhood, ambition and love, framed as a single unbroken walk — is the kind of Cantopop writing that ages into standard rather than nostalgia. It returns to broad presence today after last surfacing in early June.
