Adele — Skyfall

The BBC Proms 2026 announcement of a dedicated James Bond music programme has sent this thirteen-year-old theme back across 133 country and platform charts. The Proms event, confirmed for this summer, will spotlight the Bond catalogue alongside a separate tribute to Disney composer Alan Menken — and the coverage has renewed attention on what remains the definitive modern Bond theme. Co-written with producer Paul Epworth, "Skyfall" was designed, in Epworth's words, to be "simultaneously dark and final, like a funeral" — a brief that Adele fulfilled well enough to win the Academy Award for Best Original Song in 2013. Separately, Josh Groban released a new orchestral rendition of the song in April 2026 as part of his upcoming album Cinematic, adding another recent push to the song's re-entry after a two-week chart gap.
